| WHO WE ARE – Leon County Abstract and Title Company, Inc. has the most complete records of Leon County land in existence, and has been serving Leon County for well over 100 years. Leon County Abstract & Title Company offers its customers the very best professional and up-to-date services. With the use of the latest closing and title plant computer software, your purchase or loan will be processed quickly and efficiently. Our goal is a smooth and pleasant closing experience for all parties involved. A LITTLE HISTORY – Correspondence in the files of Leon County Abstract show the company was doing business as early as the middle 1890’s. Apparently there were several abstract companies operating in Leon County prior to 1900, one of which used the name. About 1903, the companies merged to form one company, and operated under the name Leon County Abstract Company. About 1909, H. H. Brown first acquired an interest in the company, and the Brown family was thereafter involved until the sale by H. K. Brown to John and Marjean Mallard on November 1, 1980. After the death of John in February of 2015, Marjean became owner and the office continued to operate and function as normal. On September 1, 2021, Marjean sold to the business to Tisha Wilson, an employee of 20+ years. The business is still going and the employees of the title company continue to work hard to satisfy customer requests, and with the help of attorneys, Alan Tinsley and George Robinson. An excellent article on the company written by the late Virginia Nash, a long-time employee, appears in the volume “Leon County History”, published in 1986 by the Leon County Historical Commission, et al. |
